Construction Maternity Clinic Mainapokhari started!

With the help of our international individual sponsors who bought a stone or a (Christmas)card, we managed to start the construction of the sub base for our maternity clinic in Mainapokara. This is just a first step, but we are confident in attracting more and more people and organizations to make ours and theirs dream come true to facilitate the so needed health care facility for the villages in Dolakha mountain region Nepal.

Projectvisit to Singiyahi development villages

On February 13-15 (2012) Himalayan Care Hands foundations visited Singiyahi in the Mahottari district in Janakpur. In this deprived rural area the Center for Integrated Rural Development (CIRD Janakpur) is improving basic life conditions for the hundreds of (farming) families.
The communities lack healthcare, education, (nutricious) food and hygiene but with help of Heifer International a unique empowerment program is running that can best be described by the famous verb ‘we do not give them fish, but learn them to fish’.
In october 2011 an unique experiment was added to the activities in collaboration with Himalayan Care Hands. To foster education four special XO laptops were donated and a special computer training started for a select group of children. The basic idea is to bring a ‘school in a box’ (laptop) since materials for good educations are rare or missing in these rural areas. With the help of CIRD the pilot was carried out and progress could fast be witnessed by the energetic and motivated style in which the children want to learn. For encouraging further learning, children were awarded by a special certificate. Two more laptops were donated.
The welcome and guidance by both CIRD members, presidents and staff and the residents of the different communities was overwhelming. In just a few days HCH learned about the many objectives and both CIRD and HCH discussed many possibilities on further collaboration, including expanding the digital school projects, new awareness programs and finding ways to enhance local education and medical facilities. Please help us and them by supporting this project! Do not just ‘like’, but look close at what you see. Nepali empowering their fellow brothers and sisters. Share this experience and donate on our website(s).

Projectvisit to maternity clinic building site

In February 2012, members and friends of Himalayan Care Hands visited Mainapokhari in Nepal because of the international efforts to resurrect a maternity clinic for the mountain communities. This clinic is badly needed due to the distressing situation in which young mothers die prematurely due to lack of medical care. The welcoming was accompanied by a great Hindu ceremony where a symbolic first stone was laid at the building site. The ceremony was visited by a lot of interested local residents who’s hope relies on HCH for a realization of the clinic. HCH was proud to announce that the budget required for the foundation has been raised by benevolent foreign and Nepalese supporters. So, within a few weeks the construction works will start. However, for the further construction and medical equipment there still remains a missing amount of Euro 50,000 for which the foundation will do its utmost best to raise that with many actions and activities. In addition, donors can also own a piece of the clinic by buying a name engraved brick that actually will be used in the walls. Or even roll up their sleeves by volunteering in the project. There are already two Dutch midwives intending to give a special training to women of the villages.

Heart of Stone

In the remote Nepali mountain village Mainapokhari we are trying to establish an urgently needed maternity clinic. The mortality rate of young mothers and their (un)born children is high due to lack of medical care before, during and after giving birth. With a total of 30,000 Euros, we actually can built a medical helppost with 10 rooms, the medical equipment and train nurses. You can help in an unique way by building this clinic with your own brick(s).  If you want to help us, buy one or more bricks. Each bought brick will be painted with your name so the clinic will be really a bit of you. As a reminder we will send you afterwards a photo of your own bricks by mail!
Help us and buy your own brick for just Euro 5, – a piece or give someone else a brick as a gift with his of her name in the clinic wall!
