On Saturday, April 25th, 2015 Nepal rocked by a major earthquake that struck the lives of people all over the country. The earthquake had a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale and the damage was immeasurable.

Many people have died because they found themselves under collapsed roofs and walls of their mud, wood or weakly constructed homes. Survivors often had nothing more because their homes were destroyed. People flee into the streets where they have frightened many difficult nights spent. A second earthquake on May 12 with a magnitude of 7.4 took the number of victims and injured more rise. There have been hundreds of aftershocks with a magnitude of 4 or higher. All this has a lot of psychological damage done to the population.

The Budhanilkhantha School in Kathmandu where about 500 students live and get free education was run by an NGO. The students come from poor families and orphanages. The main school building had become unsafe by the earthquake and could collapse anytime. An inspection team of engineers and architects (designated by the District Education Office) had the building designated as hazardous.

Our team has doneted galvanized panels to the Chandersh Swami, founder of this school. Through this donation of materials they can quickly begin rebuilding so they have a roof over their heads before the rainy season begins and also restart educational activities.
